I stumbled on to your website this morning and I would love any suggestions you may have! My boyfriend bought a house in Feb of 2010. He recently paid a removal company a whopping $500 for a year of professional removal service after hearing scurrying in the attic. This includes sealing, inspection, trapping and removal. At first they trapped 2 large opossums, which I knew was not the original problem. After hearing the scurrying and chewing again and seeing a very large rat waddling down the sidewalk outside by the garage, he called them again. They came out, captured and removed 2 large rats in the attic. The guy even commented on how unusually large they were... and I still hear them in the attic. It has progressed to squeaking and squealing in the bathroom wall and I swear I heard them scraping the porcelain bathtub the other night. Also, the dog and cat sit in the kitchen and stare at the dishwasher, as if they hear something behind the cabinet that we don't... Yesterday I noticed the smell the rodents in the bottom cupboard and after removing everything from the cabinet, there is no evidence of them in the cabinet itself. I am assuming there is something behind the dishwasher and they have probably chewed a pathway behind the cabinets. The only human entry to the attic is a rather small hatch in the laundry room. Every time the removal service comes out, they place the hatch to the side (in the attic) and squeeze through. This always results in the hatch being covered with dirty insulation and rat feces all over my laundry room floor. The laundry room now smells like rodents! I am at the point where I will suit up with a respirator and Victor traps and just do it myself! I love the information on your website and understand the importance of DIY knowledge. It seems like it is not important to them and they just come out "when they can" If he already paid this company $500, should I just call them EVERY day?!? Desperately, Ashley

Latest Cincinnati Opossum Trapping Tip
Hi, Great website, so thanks for putting all that information out there. I'm hoping you can guide me on a question below. I'm about to close on buying a home that's been vacant for about a month. The back yard is walled 6ft high but there is about a ten inch by 6 in gap at a spot in the wall, maybe other accesses too. I saw one scat lying in the open grass about two weeks ago near a thick bush. Today I saw about six scat portions in a ten foot radius. There seem to be a lot of leaves piled thick under the bush. There are some fruit trees with eaten fruit about thirty feet away. I'm thinking this is an oppossum, picture of scat is attached if you don't mind taking a look. I think it's an external problem, not inside the house, there's no attic - it's a single level home. Please let me know what you think, especially if you feel the animal(s) will be a continuing problem and I should avoid buying the house. Thanks for your help. .
